Triad’s ‘Essence’ for SLTPB wins Gold
PATA 2011:
Out of 223 entries received from 102 various organizations and
individuals worldwide, Triad’s travel poster created for Sri Lanka
Tourism Promotions Bureau (SLTPB) was the winner of the Gold Award in
the Marketing Media category at the Pacific Asia Travel Awards (PATA) of
2011.
The award winning entry ‘Essence’ was designed among seven other
segments which all together visualizes eight wonderful experiences of
the island of Sri Lanka - namely pristine, heritage, bliss, thrills,
festivities, scenic beauty and wild life - all as a part of promoting
Refreshingly Sri Lanka - Visit 2011, Sri Lanka Tourism’s Marketing
Campaign for 2011.
“Born from an insight that the Sri Lankan smile is a national
treasure that the people of our nation our most well-known for, we chose
three young children who belong to the three major races of our country
to represent the true friendliness, hospitality and authenticity of the
hearts of our Sri Lankan people - thereby creating a picture which
speaks of the true ‘essence’ which is unique in many ways to our
culture,’ said Triad Creative Director Charith de Silva who led the team
that designed the award winning campaign.
SLTPB Chairman Dr Nalaka Godahewa said, “In their (PATA)
congratulatory note to us it was mentioned that the judges were most
impressed with the quality and the overall high standard of our entry
“Essence” in this category, and hence voted for “Gold” out of 223
entries received from 102 various organizations and individuals
worldwide.

gives us immense pleasure to see that our joint efforts have gained
international recognition.

AA signs MoU with Asian Alliance

The Automobile Association of Ceylon (AA) and the Asian Alliance
Insurance (AAI) entered into an MoU to serve the Insurance needs of the
AA members recently. Established in 1904, AA is renowned as the voice of
the Sri Lankan motorists. The AA was adjudged winner in the National
Business Excellence Awards 2010 conducted by the National Chamber of
Commerce.
Asian Alliance Insurance commenced operations in December 1999.
AAI caters to growing, elite clientèle that consists of corporate and
individual clients; operates through a network of 22 Regional
Distribution Offices located strategically island wide.
AAI has entered into a strategic partnership with the AA with the
objective of enhancing the benefits to the Sri Lankan motorists in
numerous ways. This tie-up will also benefit the Asian Alliance motor
insurance policyholders who will be offered a 24 hour roadside breakdown
service, towing facilities and host of other services by the AA for a
nominal fee.
Small and medium scale financial facilities:
MBSL launches Siyath Saviya
Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka Plc. (MBSL) introduced small and medium
scale financial facilities in the name Siyath Saviya recently.
Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka Chairman M R Shah said this system of
financial facilities may be referred to as an attempt for the upliftment
of the living standard of the rural people away from the traditional
system of carrying on business, on a special request made by the
President.
In the provision of small and medium scale financial facilities, the
Finance Agricultural Credit Services (FAC) acted in collaboration with
the Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka and the wide branch network of TACS was
made use of for this purpose.
A memorandum of understanding entered into between these two
institutions, on the initiation of Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka Plc.
Chairman M R Shah and the Finance Agricultural Credit Services Chief
Executive Officer K A S Jayatissa was exchanged in the village of
Kudagalenbindunuwewa in the Provincial Division of Galbindunuwewa.
The high ranking officials of both the aforesaid institutions
participated at the function and Rev Dodampahala Rahula Thera delivered
a special sermon at this function.
On that day special financial facilities were granted to villagers
living around Galenbindunuwewa for planting around 11,000 coconut plants
and other subsidiary crops, in commemoration of the assumption of office
for the second term of the President.
M R Shah addressing the beneficiaries of the financial facilities and
the rest of the people who were present at the function, said that the
objective of his bank was to extend this system of granting financial
facilities to other rural areas in Sri Lanka, and thereby it was the
objective of his bank to make better the economy of a large number of
persons of the low income category.
Noyon Lanka wins OHSAS 18001 certification
Health and safety management system:

Certificate to Noyon Lanka (Pvt) Company in the Biyagama Free Trade Zone
for their health and safety management system.
OHSAS 18001 is an international occupational health and safety
management system specification which enables organizations to control
their health and safety risks and improve their performance. OHSAS was
created via a concerted effort from a number of worlds leading standards
bodies.

Crowd-simulation and other special effects were used extensively in
the production of the Mobitel Smart5 TV commercial. This was the first
time such techniques were used in a locally produced Sri Lankan
commercial.
The image on the left shows a group of about 60 people holding
Mobitel Smart5 placards, on a meadow.
The image on the right shows the same group of people increased a
thousand-fold, by digitally adding hundreds of people holding similar
placards to the scene. The background, too, has been altered to look
like a picturesque mountain range.
