Kandy Youths Cricket Club scored a close first innings win over Matugama Cricket Club in their P Sara Trophy cricket tournament match concluded at the public grounds, Matugama yesterday. Kandy Youths are unbeaten this season having scored two outright wins and four first innings wins and now look certain to enter the semi-finals.

Matugama CC 213 all out and 241 for 7 declared in 47 overs (Nuwan Chinthala 117, Nalin Roshan 73, Chandima Abeykoon 3 for 78, Prasad Ranawaka 2 for 24).

Kandy Youths CC 187 for 5 overnight (contd) 226 all out in 43 overs (Chamila Ambagaspitiya 72, Mahes Rajaratne 75, Nadun Basnayake 45, Dharshana Chaturanga 4 for 65, Sanjaya Mayura 4 for 58) and 139 for 7 in 27 overs (Kasun Ekanayake 41, Dhanushka Mitipolarachchi 21, Chandima Abeykoon 18, Asanka Chandana 3 for 35, Sanjaya Mayura 2 for 31, Dharshana Chaturanga 2 for 35).
