Body found

On information received by the Embilipitiya police a body had been found at the southern lake in Udawalawa behind the Kavantissapura school in the Embilipitiya new town. The dead person was identified as Indika Jayantha (35), a resident in the Panamura area. He is suspected to have been murdered. The Embilipitiya Magistrate has ordered a post-mortem into his death. Police are investigating.

Motorcyclist succumbs to injuries

A cab and a motorcycle had collided near Nugayaya area on the Wellawaya- Thanamalwila main road in the Wellawaya area on February 11, 2011 about 6.20 pm. Both the drivers of the cab and the motorcycle had been admitted to the Moneragala hospital and the motorcyclist had succumbed to his injuries the same day. The dead was identified as Ekanayake Mudiyanselage Lalith Nishantha (30), and was reported to be a resident of Ethiliwewa in Veherayaya. The police are investigating.

Two robbers caught

Two persons who had robbed cloths from a textile shop near the bus depot at Medawachchiya were taken into custody by the Medawachchiya police on February 12.

On a complaint made by the owner of the textile shop this detection was made by the police.

Police investigations say that these two suspects had entered the shop by removing the sheets of the roof and the value of the cloths they had robbed was Rs 25,000. The two suspects were residents in the Medawachchiya area and due to be produced in courts.

Two suspects nabbed

Two suspects with 195 Gelignites were taken into police custody by a team of police officials attached to the Kurunegala police on February 12. The suspects were due to be produced before the Magistrate.
