Rs 14 m set aside for Mundalama, Karuwalagaswewa:

Power for 200 families

Preliminary work for the provision of electricity to people of the Mundalama and Karuwalagaswewa Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Puttalam district was inaugurated last week under the patronage of Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka.

Work on the project to provide electricity to the Puttalam, Karuwalagaswewa Mahakonwewa area at a cost of over Rs 14 million was inaugurated.

The Power and Energy Ministry said that 200 families will receive electricity under this program.

The Ministry has also planned to start a number of electricity projects to cover the district to increase the power supply by 100 percent by 2012.
