No harm to wild animals - DWLC DG

No harm has been caused or deaths reported of wild animals due to floods, Wildlife Conservation Department Director General Chandra Wansapathiraja said.

Only three elephants had been affected and they have been treated by the (DWLC)Wildlife Department officials.

A baby elephant which was washed away in floods in Chettikulam was also treated by them, the Director General said. A survey launched to collect details of flood affected wild animals has not yet been completed.

Due to the flood situation the DWLC officials could not reach some areas.

The DWLC is collecting details about electrified fences which were damaged by floods. However, reports have not yet been collected, the Director General said.

He said, reports of affected wild buffaloes and other animals were yet to find.
