Fined for polluting environment

The Kandy Magistrate imposed fines of Rs 730,000 on 73 persons whom the Kandy police had nabbed for releasing water mixed up with human excreta, to the environment.

The police detections included houses, hotels, public lavatories and trade centres from where the 73 persons were taken into custody.

The Court also fined a sum of Rs 380,000 on 85 persons on charges of disposal of water mixed up with human excreta.
