A'pura floods subside completely

The flood situation in the Anuradhapura district has completely subsided, Anuradhapura District Secretary A M Herath said yesterday.

"The District Disaster Management Centre jointly with the Divisional Secretaries have been distributing two weeks ration of dry food items to 5,000 displaced families. Fifty percent of the task is over," he said.

Herath said that overall development and a rehabilitation program to repair 8,000 kilometres of devastated roads in the North Central Province, 475 medium and small-scale tanks and 7,000 houses damaged by floods in the Anuradhapura district is under way at a cost of nearly Rs 13,000 million.
