Wesley College were well poised to register an outright victory after
having completely dominated the opening days play in their 118th annual
inter school under 19 cricket tournament match against Royal College
which commenced at Reid Avenue yesterday.

school under 19 cricket match against St Sylvesters College, Kandy
worked off at Moratuwa.
Sebs Skipper Calling the coin correctly decided to take the first
lease and they piled up 271 runs in 57.2 overs with Oshada Fernando (85)
and Charith Fernando (40) being involved in a fourth wicket partnership
of 111 runs. Sumedha Dissanayake excelled for Sylvestrians with 3 for
41.
When stumps were drawn for the day one, visitors were reeling at 66
for 7 with Vishva Fernando doing the damage with 5 for 25.

The spin Combination of skipper and off spinner Malinda Gunaratne
match bag of 11 for 96 and by leg-spinner Prince Jayakumar 7 for 81
bowled St Mary’s College, Kegalle to their fifth outright win for the
season.
When they beat St Xavier’s College, Marawila by an innings and 9 runs
in their schools under 19 cricket tournament match concluded at Public
grounds, Kegalle yesterday.
Off-spinner Malinda Gunaratne proved to be the main destructor
capturing 6 for 45 and 5 for 51 bringing his tally of wickets for the
season to 54 wickets.
Leg spinner Prince rendered him useful support by capturing 4 for 50
and 3 for 31.
Malinda Gunaratne also scored 53 with 7 fours and has now passed the
500 run mark. Marians seventh wicket pair of Sahan Opatha 54 not out (7
fours) and C Ranaweera 55 (6 fours) put on 95 to boost up the total.
Xavierites batting failed in both innings as they were dismissed for 140
and facing a deficit of 145 were dismissed for 136 in the second
innings.
