Over Rs 1,600 m for renovating work

The Treasury will provide Rs 1,600 million for the renovation of the irrigation system, damaged due to floods, said Irrigation and Water Resources Management Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva.

The Irrigation system was badly damaged due to floods in several areas. According to Irrigation and Water Resources Management Ministry statistics, more than 500 irrigation reservoirs were damaged and Rs 5,000 million is required to repair them, said the Minister.

The Ministry has already started repairing damaged irrigation reservoirs under two stages.
