Earthslip prone lands shunned

Nearly 2,500 houses have been completely and partly damaged in the Central Province due to devastating floods.

About fifteen thousand people in the Kandy, Matale and Nuwara Eliya districts have been affected by the disaster.

About nine hundred houses in the Central Province are at the risk of being destroyed by possible earthslip.

The Governor of the Central Province Tikiri Kobbekaduwa said that an allocation of new lands will be made to the people whose houses have been put up in locations prone to earthslips.
