Fence to bar elephants

A fence to prevent elephants from tresspassing into human dwellings will be built at a cost of ten million rupees in the Nuwaraeliya region.

This fence will surround the area between Boladandawa and Keerthi Bandarapura bordering the Randenigala forest reserve. Nuwaraeliya district secretary D G G Kumarasiri said that an area of 42 kms will be covered by this and this will also provide a concrete solution for the elephant-human conflict which has claimed many lives in the area up to now.

He said that President Mahinda, Rajapaksa directed the construction of the fence and the Economic Development Ministry will implement the project.
