Fence to bar elephants

A fence to prevent elephants from tresspassing into human dwellings
will be built at a cost of ten million rupees in the Nuwaraeliya region.
This fence will surround the area between Boladandawa and Keerthi
Bandarapura bordering the Randenigala forest reserve. Nuwaraeliya
district secretary D G G Kumarasiri said that an area of 42 kms will be
covered by this and this will also provide a concrete solution for the
elephant-human conflict which has claimed many lives in the area up to
now.
He said that President Mahinda, Rajapaksa directed the construction
of the fence and the Economic Development Ministry will implement the
project.
