Relief for flood victims:

President receives Rs 10 m

President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday received Rs 10 million to provide relief to flood victims. This money collected by People's Bank, Independent Television Network, Radio Lakhanda and Disaster Relief Fund was handed over to President Rajapaksa by the People's Bank Chairman W Karunajiva representing the Disaster Relief Fund.

The President has set up a Special Task Force for the provision of flood relief. Money donated yesterday was in response to a call by the Force.

President Rajapaksa said that the services by the Three Forces, the Police and Government officials to help flood victims was commendable.

The President handed over the cheque for Rs 10 million to the Eastern Security Commander Major General Boniface Perera to provide relief to flood victims in the Eastern Province.

Finance Ministry Secretary Dr P B Jayasundera and ITN and Lakhanda Chairman Rosmand Senaratne and several others were also present.
