New railway power sets arrive

Three of the 20 new railway power sets ordered from India under an Indian loan scheme have been unloaded at the Colombo Port from the ship MV Blue Ocean. These modern power sets known as 'S11' type are produced at India's Integral Coach Factory. Each power set consists of the engine and six compartments.

The power sets are made of rust resistant steel and there is a fan and a food retainer fixed to the seats in each compartment.
