championship in the hand gun Standard Division and in the teams open
event.
Anusha Prasadika of Sri Lanka Air Force won the Ladies Junior
Category while Haritha Pilapitiya of Hill Country Sports Club won the
boys’ event.
Both motor cars and motor cycle races gave the enthusiastic
spectators an exciting experience. A few hours full of action by the
drivers and riders made the event a huge success.
Well-known drivers like Dinesh Deheragoda, Upuwan Serasinhe and
Aravinda Premadasa battled in the races to defend their titles. In motor
bike races there was a tough tussle between Gayan Sandaruwan and KP
Aravind.
The ‘kids upto 50 cc’ race and ‘racing upto 85 cc Under 16’ were seen
as preparation of younger generation to create future champions by most
spectators. The parachute exhibition jump from Sri Lanka Air Force
parachute team made the fans more surprised. Despite of the drizzle
yesterday thousands gathered to Carlton Racing Track. Yesterday’s events
were organized by ‘Tharunyata Hetak’ Organization and conducted by Sri
Lanka Racing Association.
First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa gave away the trophies and awards at
the end of the races.

contribution by participating in two main events and ultimately winning
them. He won the Nissan March Car race and also won the first place in
