Brothers remanded in swindle case

Two brothers suspected to have swindle over Rs two million using
false credit cards were remanded by Mount Lavinia Chief Magistrate
Nirosha Fernando until February 12. The two brothers who had been
employed in Italy had become friendly with a Romanian couple. After
returning to Sri Lanka with the couple, the two had withdrawn money from
locals’ and foreigners’ accounts. Investigations are on to arrest the
Romanian couple, who are missing. The two brothers were taken into
custody by the Colombo Criminal Investigations Department at Galle on
January 2.
Investigations revealed that the Romanian couple had swindled large sums
from several countries. Malaysian Police officials were also reported to
be investigating to arrest the couple. The two brothers are M Dilusha
Dinuka Kodituwakku and M Sisira Madushanka Kodituwakku. |
