Lankan products in Canadian market

The M&M Twins Limited, of Toronto, Canada has entered the Canadian Supermarket Chains with Sri Lankan Products on January 15.

Sri Lankan products and reputed Sri Lankan Brands such as MD and Munchee can be found in No Frills, Price Chopper and Frshco locations where there is a significant density of Sri Lankans - mainly in Scarborough, Markham, Toronto, Mississauga and Brampton. The products can be found in three locations. The target is to grow to eight locations by the end of February and to 15 locations by March end.

In negotiations were on with Sobey’s INC (owners of the Price Chopper and Freshco banners) to establish the very first designated ‘Sri Lankan products’ isle in their selected outlets.

The isle has been carefully strategized and will contain 35 Sri Lankan products which will go into the development of a traditional Sri Lankan meal. The product portfolio will consist of rice, curry mixes, biriyani and yellow rice mix, sambols, cooked dry fish, authentic Sri Lankan vegetables such as green jak, cashew curry and breadfruit, Sri Lankan spices, virgin coconut oil, jams, cordials, Munchee biscuits, treacle and jaggery.
