Make economic development through spiritual co-existence - PM

All should compromise to make the country victorious in an economic development process through spiritual co-existence, Prime Minister D M Jayaratne said.

He said spiritual development can be ensured only through a religious background.

Therefore, he said the Government is ready to provide everything needed to the people on the 2600th anniversary of the Sri Sambuddathwa Jayanthi.

The Prime Minister made this observation at the annual convocation of the Sabaragamuwa University held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall premises yesterday evening (29).

The Premier made it clear that the people without any discrimination should work as one to ensure a nation with one aim.

The Prime Minister pointed out that it was necessary for the graduates to work for the welfare of the country’s population.

This function was attended by the Sabaragamuwa University Chancellor Prof Kamburugamuwe Vajira Thera, Higher Education Minister S B Dissanayake, Vice Chancellor of the University Prof Mahinda Rupasinghe, university lecturers and graduands among others.
