More facilities for rural areas

The ending of the 30-year terrorist war has enabled the Government to introduce giant development programs throughout the country, said Technology and Research Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi.

The Minister was speaking after opening the first stage of the Kiriella Water Supply Project recently.

Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena was also present.

Minister Wanniarachchi said the Kiriella Water Supply project was funded by the Government with the aim of providing clean drinking water for all.

Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said under the ‘Mahinda Chinthana’ program, all facilities given to the urban community will also be provided to rural areas.

The total cost of this project is Rs 250 million. The first stage of the project which cost Rs 45 million covers the Kiriella and Idangoda areas.
