The Cultural and Arts Affairs Ministry has drawn up a plan to encourage participating of 1,500 dancers representing all the districts to mark the 63rd National Independence Day, Cultural and Arts Affairs Ministry Secretary Wimal Rubasinghe said. They have been grouped into 40 ensembles.

They will perform Kandyan, Low Country, Sabaragamu and Veddha community dancing. Dance troupes of the North and Eastern Provinces will also participate, he said. These dancers have been selected from cultural centres and aesthetic institutes in the country, he noted.
