Child’s death: Probe begins

A special investigation has been launched into the death of a one and
half year old child who is suspected to have died after an injection was
administered at the Nawalapitiya Hospital, Central Province Health
Services Director Shanthini Samarasinghe said.
The Central Province Health Department has appointed a team of
medical specialists to probe the incident, Dr Samarasinghe said.
Kanishka Kaushalya Bandara whose parents are employed at the
Nawalapitiya Hospital, was admitted after a leech bit him.
The child had been administered an injection brought from a different
ward, following which his condition aggravated. He died later. |
