Navy assists repatriation of SL fishermen
The Sri Lanka Navy assisted in the repatriation of two (02) Sri
Lankan fishermen who were released from Indian custody on January 17.
The fishermen and their fishing boat were handed over to SLN
officials by Indian Coast Guard vessel ICG 138, at the Indo-Sri Lanka
International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) in the seas off
Thalaimannar.
They were brought to the naval base SLNS Gajaba in Mannar by Sri
Lanka Naval Ship Ranawickrama attached to Northern Naval Command with
the assistance of Navy’s Inshore Patrol Craft P 214 attached to the
North Central Naval Command and were provided with assistance by Naval
authorities. The fishing boat which was released had left for fishing
from the Kandakkuliya Fisheries Harbour.
