Curtains will be raised for Galle Literary Festival (GLF) 2011 with a ‘Lit Talk’ spearheaded by renowned British writer Louis de Bernieres on January 20 at the Park Street Mews, Colombo 2. The event will unfold at the Warehouse and will be followed by a three course dinner at the restaurant. Targeted at Malaysian literature and cuisine, GLF 2011 bookworms will be able to meet and hold discussions with their favourite authors and poets from January 26 to 30. GLF also allocates space for visitors to enjoy Sri Lankan and Indian music, dance and drama. Soft music will float through the air at the shady lawn as visitors relax, fanned by the breeze, taking in the fresh air and enjoying their picnic lunch. Another striking change in this year’s line up is that panel discussion time had been extended from one hour to one and a half hours. This allows more time for the authors to read out of their books. The evenings end amid colourful sun sets where you can enjoy sparkling wine or cocktails listening to an enthusiastic literary discussion or reading. RJ
