Market hits 7000 mark
The market saw a turnaround yesterday with the Colombo Stock Exchange
(CSE) All Share Price Index (ASPI) exceeded the 7,000 milestone for the
first time this year.
The ASPI closed at 7,014.85 points moving up by 22.15 points, while
Milanka Price Index (MPI) closed at 7,327.22 points gaining by 12.51
points yesterday. The turnover for the day was over Rs 5.6 billion. Asia
Wealth Management Company Research Analyst Nirmala Samarawickrama said
there were 13 crossings yesterday from Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka
(4), Laugfs Gas (non-voting), Ceylinco Insurance (non-voting), Ceylinco
Insurance (voting), John Keells Holdings (2), Hatton National Bank, Coco
Lanka and Lion Brewery (2).
A ten percent price band has been imposed on Laugfs Gas (non-voting)
shares yesterday.
The top gainers were Laugfs Gas, Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka,
Laugfs Gas (non-voting), Odel and Colombo Land and Development Company.
He said Laugfs Gas had high net worth and retail transactions, while
foreign and local buying were noticed from Distilleries Company of Sri
Lanka. Odel has institutional transactions. Laugf Gas (non-voting) and
Colombo Land and Development Company enjoyed retail transactions.
HVA Foods Limited Rs 319 million Initial Public Offering (IPO) was
