Murder case: Suspect nabbed in Anuradhapura town

Balangoda Police arrested a man in the Anuradhapura town on January 2 who is alleged to have killed a woman by strangling her in her house at Elle-Arawa in Balangoda on July 05, 2007.

The suspect G A Udesh Kuma, 29, a resident in Galle town was produced before Balangoda Magistrate and District Judge Namal Bandara Balalle and remanded till January 18. H K Rosilin Dayawathie, 40, of Elle-Arawa in Balangoda was a Foreign Employment Agency Agent in Colombo. The suspect had met her at the Agency and had an affair.

He had also visited her house several days. The suspect had allegedly strangled her after he saw another man leaving her house, Police said. He had also taken nearly Rs 50,000 belonging to her, Police said.

A police team led by OIC Crime branch CI Athula Perera conducted the investigations and arrested the suspect.
