New access to Yala
A new access road to the Yala National Park will be opened through
Maligawila parallel to Deyata Kirula Exhibition in Buttala, said Deyata
Kirula Co-ordinating Secretary Udaya Seneviratne.
Addressing a media conference at the Information Department yesterday
he said the Wildlife Department has also planned a special program to
hold night camp sites inside Yala National Park giving opportunity for
the Deyata Kirula participants to spend the night in the jungle.
"This will be a new experience for the public and those who are
interested in participating in this program will need to reserve their
places beforehand," he said.
He further said that special transport arrangements would be arranged
from almost every main town to Moneragala with SLTB and Railway
Department collaboration for the convenience of the public to attend the
exhibition. The bus and train timetables would be announced within next
two weeks, he added.
He also mentioned that a special tourism promotion program aiming
both local and foreign tourists would be implemented and a documentary
containing tourist attractions in the area would be launched parallel to
the exhibition. He invited the public to visit Moneragala for two or
more days to cover all special programs planned parallel to the
exhibition.
