New fishing bargain centre for Jaffna fishermen

The fishing industry on the coast line of the Jaffna Peninsula has begun to grow with the peaceful environment in the North.

The International Organization for Migration has started construction of a new fishing bargain centre on the Madhagal beach in Jaffna.Construction is being carried out under the Socio Economic Development Project for the Madhugal Fishing Community in the Sandilipai Divisional Secretariat in the Jaffna District.

The project is funded by the Australian Government and co-coordinated by the Jaffna District Secretariat. The fishing community say that this will be of great importance to their living standards as there is no proper place for them to conduct business.
