TT again in Kegalle

The All Island two-day Table Tennis Tournament organised by the Kegalle District Table Tennis Association was held at the Kegalle St Mary's Vidyalaya Indoor Stadium, recently. Over 500 players from various parts of the country participated including players from 50 outside schools.

It is said Table Tannis was not played in Kegalle for a long period of time as the Association failed to elect a president.

Now the game has been reactivated following the election of Kegalle District MP Kanaka Herath as the president of the Kegalle District Table Tennis Association.

His immediate task was to form a club consisting 32 schoolchildren from the district and continue playing the game. Ten schools in the district including rural schools were identified to develop Table Tennis. The Chief Minister Maheepala Herath presented each school with tables and other equipment worth Rs 750,000.
