NCP to upgrade irrigation, livestock
Amila Prabath Wanasinghe
The North Central Provincial Council (NCP) has planned several new
projects to develop the irrigation and livestock sectors in the province
this year.
Under this, the 2500 small and medium scale tanks will be
rehabilitated and brought under proper management to ensure irrigation
facilities to the agricultural lands in the province. Arrangements will
be made to strengthen dairy farmers by introducing measures to conserve
the cattle herd amounting to nearly 22,000 and promote nutrition of the
people in the province.
Last year the North Central Provincial Council rehabilitated nearly
484 irrigation works to ensure irrigation facilities to nearly 15,550
acres of paddy land.
