All museums should be under NMD

There are a number of museums which are maintained under many fields by various institutes.

These should be run systematically. All museums should be taken under the authority of the National Museum Department (NMD), National Heritage Minister Jagath Balasuriya said. He was speaking during an observation tour at the National Museum recently.

Donations from foreign business communities, investors and volunteer organizations should also be utilized other than Government allocations, to bring the National Museum to an international level, he said. National heritage of a country improves along with its economic development. Sri Lanka is enhancing its economic sector. The National Heritage aspect can also contribute for this endeavour, he said.
