Villages to glitter at night

A program to provide electricity for every village is implemented in the North Central Province.

The government has allocated Rs 8,000 million for the project, Electricity Board NCP Deputy General Manager Gratian Muthukudaarachchi said. He said the scheme would be completed before the end of 2013.

Work worth Rs 1,000 million has been completed. The process of collecting data with regard to the locations where the supply is required on priority basis is nearing completion, he said.

He said, the electricity supply development program in Kilinochchi, Paranthan, Oddisudan, Nedunkerny, Mallavi, Mankulam and Mulathivu is also under way simultaneous to the "Lighting Sri Lanka" NCP project.
