Nabbed for misusing funds

A delivery agent at the Medawachchiya Co-operative shop arrested for allegedly misusing Rs 2,305,453 will be produced in Court today.

N K S Gunawardena of Mannar road, Medawachchiya was interdicted when he failed to return Rs 2,305,453 collected from Kebithigollewa, Mannar, Padaviya and Sri Pura. On a complaint made by the Co-op City to Kebithigollewa police, the suspect was produced in Court and remanded.

According to police, he is charged with misusing and cheating Government property.
