Matara district roads under construction

The reconstruction work on 79 roads in the Matara electorate started in December 2010.

The estimated expenditure for the project is Rs 86.6 million.

This project won initiated on a proposal by Matara District MP Sanath Jayasuriya under the Gama Neguma program. A sum of Rs 39.6 million was provided for the reconstructing of 66 roads in 66 Grama Seva Divisions of Matara Electorate.

Under the Maga Neguma program, a sum of Rs 47 million was provided for the construction of 13 roads in Matara Municipal limits where thousands of low income families would benefit once the project was completed. Among the roads completed are Bothuragama Road, at a cost of Rupees 07 million. Hiththatiya Singha Patumaga, at a cost of Rupees 4.5 million and Dharmaraja Road at a cost of Rupees 6 million.

The road development activities have been completed under the guidance of relevant officers.
