VTA should take leadership

The Vocational Training Authority (VTA) is one of the main bodies out of several that will have to take leadership steering the country to be Asia's Wonder, said Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dallas Alahapperuma addressing the Independent Workers Union 13th anniversary.

He said it is important to have a trained work force for a country. It is reveled that out of 21,000 who get the opportunity to go to university 5,000 end up without jobs. The Minister pointed out that it is the Vocational Training Authority's main duty and responsibility to train and find solutions for the unemployment problem.

He said the market is dominated with training courses that are no use from the point of view of job value. Action has been taken to stop such courses in the future.

The countries that named Sri Lanka as a failure is making comments to say that it is the best country for visitors. This shows the progress the country has made.
