Bourse on the up

The Colombo bourse continued to remain positive in the new year with improved investor sentiments seen across the board yesterday.

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) All Share Price Index (ASPI) closed at 6657.91 points gained by 22.04 points, while the Milanka Price Index (MPI) closed at 7061.36 points.

The turnover for the day was over Rs 1.9 billion. Speaking to the Daily News Business Asia Wealth Management Company Research Analyst Nirmala Samarawickrama said there were three crossings yesterday. John Keells Holdings had two crossings while one was from Lanka Orix Leasing Company.

The top contributors were John Keells Holdings, Bairaha Farms, PC House, Colombo Fort Land and Building Company and Lanka Orix Leasing Company.

Institutional and retail tradings were noticed with activity seen in poultry sector stocks.
