Increase in export revenue
Sri Lanka’s total export revenue has increased by 13.5 percent from
January to November 2010. It reached the highest export revenue per a
month in November amounting to US $ 793 million as against US $ 790
million in October, Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) Chairman
Janaka Ratnayake told Daily News Business.
The export revenue of November of US $ 793 million is the highest
export revenue recorded in last two years. “With the current trends, Sri
Lankan exports can reach over US $ eight billion by the end of 2010.
This can be recognized as the efforts taken by Sri Lankan exporters.
The Government expectation is to increase export revenue to US $ 15
billion in 2015 going in line with the Mahinda Chinthana Way forward,”
he said.
The EDB will facilitate exports to reach over US $ nine billion in
2011 and expects to improve the remaining export sectors.
