Badureliya stun CCC

Badureliya SC recorded a close two wicket win with just five deliveries remaining in their Premier Limited Overs Tournament Tier ‘A’ match against Colombo Cricket Club at the CCC ground yesterday.

Nisal Randika was the top scorer for the home team with 57 runs before they made a total of 208 runs for the loss of 9 wickets.

In reply, the Badureliya SC openers involved in a 71 run partnership and gave their team the kind of start they needed. Ruvindu Gunasekera scored 57. Sachith Pathirana was the most successful bowler for the CCC with figures of 3 for 31 but the visitors reached the target in the last over with five deliveries remaining.

CCC: 208 (Malintha Gajanayake 39, Nisal Randika 57, Charitha Buddika 43 n.o., Amil Prasad 2 for 25, Sahan Wijeratne 2 for 22.

Badureliya Sports Club: 209 (Tharindu Attanayake 41, Ravindu Gunasekera 57, Sahan Wijeratne 42, Shohan Bowala 2 for 30, Sachith Pathirana 3 for 31).

Chamara excels

Chamara Kapugedera scored a quick century for NCC in their Premier Limited Overs Tournament Tier A match against Chilaw Marians CC which NCC won by 28 runs (Duckworth Lewis method) at their home ground yesterday. Jehan Mubarak also helped to swell the NCC total with a 83 ball knock of 86 and was involved in a massive 172 run partnership with Kapugedera for the fourth wicket.

In reply, Chilaw Marians too came back strongly after two quick wickets when opener Mahela Udawatte and Milinda Siriwardena made 144 runs for the third wicket. Udawatte scored a quick century which came in just 102 deliveries while Siriwardena was out for 57.

NCC: 293 (Upul Tharanga 30 n.o., Chamara Kapugedera 108, Jehan Mubarak 86, Chatura Peiris 25 n.o., Gayan Wijekoon 2 for 20, Dinuka Hettiarachchi 2 for 61).

Chilaw Marians CC: 222 (Mahela Udawatte 100, Milinda Siriwardana 57, Chatura Peiris 3 for 43, Imesh Udayanga 2 for 34).

Excellent seam bowling from left armer Chaminda Vaas and Angelo Mathews helped Colts CC beat Ragama CC by three wickets in their low scoring SLC Premier limited overs cricket tournament Tier ‘A’ match worked off at Havelock Park yesterday.

Ragama CC: 115 in 36.3 overs (I. de Saram 20, K. Weeraratne 23, M. Bandara 23, C. Vaas 3 for 21, N. Kulasekera 2 for 26, A. Mathews 3 for 11, K. Elvitigala 2 for 20).

Colts CC: 116 for 6 in 31 overs (M. Warnapura 40, R. Silva 31, N. Premaratne 2 for 25).

Ajantha to the fore

Mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis returned outstanding figures of six wickets for 12 runs as Sri Lanka Army Sports Club trounced Seeduwa Raddoluwa CC by seven wickets in their SLC Premier limited overs cricket tournament Tier ‘B’ match worked off at Panagoda yesterday.

Seeduwa RCC: 73 in 26.3 overs (H. Gunatilleke 24, P. Ranaweera 23, A. Mendis 6 for 12).

Army SC: 75 for 3 in 16 overs (R. Kavinga 24 n.o, R. Dhammika 2 for 31).

Dilhara helps Moors

All-rounder Dilhara Lokuhettige hammered a sparkling 84 from 55 deliveries inclusive of five sixes and eleven boundaries as Moors SC defeated Panadura CC by seven wickets in their SLC Premier limited overs cricket tournament Tier ‘B’ match worked off at Braybrooke Place yesterday.

Panadura CC: 185 in 47.2 overs (R. Fernando 36, R. Cooray 23, S. Umayanga 48, N. Cooray 21, A. Rideegammanagedera 3 for 26, P. Kellapotha 4 for 27).

Moors SC: 186 for 3 in 33 overs (S. Kalawitigoda 33, D. Lokuhettige 84, S. Kandanarachchi 47 n.o).

Easy for BRC

Skipper Nimesh Perera hit an unbeaten 81 with three sixes and half a dozen of boundaries to help BRC pull off a seven wicket victory over Antonians SC in their SLC Premier limited overs cricket tournament Tier ‘B’ match worked off at Havelock Park yesterday.

Antonians SC: 181 in 46.3 overs (L. Chaturanga 25, C. Randunu 59, M. Perera 2 for 37).

BRC: 182 for 3 in 34.5 overs (N. Perera 81 n.o, D. Perera 39, A. Solomons 25).

Navy beaten

Sri Lanka Police SC defeated Sri Lanka Navy Sports Club by 40 runs in their SLC Premier limited overs cricket tournament Tier ‘B’ match worked off at the Police Park yesterday.

Police SC: 200 in 47.1 overs (R. Nirmal 40, T. Indika 20, T. Weerasinghe 23, A. Priyantha 51, S. Chamika 2 for 44, U.Peiris 4 for 26).

Navy SC: 160 in 39.4 overs (V. Chandrasiri 72, R. Rasanga 33, C. Bandara 2 for 14, R. Nirmal 2 for 24, D. Rajapaksa 3 for 23, M. Kumara 2 for 13).
