Wanted men in police net

The Medawachchiya Police have arrested 243 people who had been wanted and issued with warrants for their arrest during the past six months in 2010.

According to police sources, the raids carried out have helped reduce the criminal activities in the area child abuse and rape have decreased by a considerable amount.

Many mass scale narcotic dealers were arrested and drug trafficking was reduced by 80 percent.

The people thank the police for their service and efforts to make the area a peaceful town.
