The Sabaragamuwa University was closed from January 1 due to an increase in ragging.

Sabaragamuwa University Acting Vice Chancellor H M S Priyanath told the Daily News that the students had been told to evacuate University hostels by Saturday.

The University Students' Union demonstrated urging the authorities to re-open the university.
