Project launched to promote bees' honey

The Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Agriculture Department has launched a project to promote the bees' honey production to promote the living condition of low income families in the Ratnapura district.

Rs 37.5 million set apart by the Provincial Agriculture Ministry for this, said, A M Gunaratne Project Officer Ratnapura District.

Under this up to now 400 bee boxes and other necessary instruments were distributed among the selected farmers and were trained them by the Agriculture Instructors (AI) and the project is being conducted under the instruction of AIs on the direction of deputy director of Agriculture K P Karawita, he added.
