Navin, Tehani win national titles

Navin Samarasinghe beat Saman Tillekeratne to win the Men's Open Senior National Squash Championship while Tehani Guruge became the champion in the women's catogery when she beat Nadindi Udangawa in the finals held at Gymkhana squash court yesterday.

Binura Jayasuriya won the third place by beating Gihan Suwaris in the Men's Open and Sharya Guruge second runner-up in the women's open, defeating Mandakini Gunasekara.

The award ceremony was held at the same venue and there were two special awards for those who performed well in the tournament. Navin Samarasinghe was awarded the Rentokil Challenge Trophy while Tenhani Guruge was presented the Sanitact Challenge Trophy. All certificates and trophies were given away by the chief guest Director Finlay Thushara Alles.

Men's Open

Navin Samarasinghe beat Saman Tillekeratne 11-9, 5-11, 12-10, 11-3.

Men's open third place

Binura Jayasuriya beat Gihan Suwaris 11-9,11-3, 3-11, 11-9

Women's open final

Tehani Guruge beat Nadindi Udangawa 11-9, 11-1, 11-7

Women's open third place

Sharya Guruge beat Mandakini Gunasekara 11-3, 11-4, 11-4.

Boys' under 11 final

Dravinka M Perera beat H M Tuwin Osand 11-5, 11-3, 11-1

Third place - Heshan De Balasuriya beat I R Ashwin 10-12, 11-5, 6-11 , 12-10, 11-4.

Boys' under 15 final

H R H Laksiri beat M W M Shamil 11-3, 11-3, 11-1.

Third place - K Vidurange Udantha beat Rashendra Rajaratne 11-3, 11-7, 11-2.

Girls under 11final

Kasuni Gunawardene beat Sameera Deen 11-2, 11-2, 11-2.

Third place - Dewmini Chamindrika beat Nimsari Weerasinghe 11-5, 11-2, 11-6.

Girls under 15 final

K A M Methsarani beat Lasnee Kulathunge 11-3, 11-3, 11-2,

Third place - K Raveena Perera beat Dinithi Nanayakkara 11-8, 11-6, 11-5.

Men's over 35

Saman Tillekeratne beat Lal Wickrmasinghe 11-0, 11-6, 11-2.

Men's novices

Kumaragama beat Ranasinghe 5-11, 11-9, 11-4, 7-11, 11-5.
