Navy builds another house for resettled family

The Navy built another low-cost house for a resettled family in the
Velanai Island in Kayts as part of its community welfare projects and to
coincide with its 60th anniversary. This is the third house constructed
by the Naval personnel attached to the SLNS Kanchadewa in Kayts.
The house, built within 25 days, was handed over to Kodiswaran
Thanalakshmi by Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy and Commander Northern
Naval Area Rear Admiral Susith Weerasekera on December 22. Kayts
Divisional Secretary Sri Mohanan and Velanai Divisional Secretary
Nanthagoplan and Naval personnel of the Northern Naval Command and SLNS
Kanchchadewa were also present.
The family had arrived in Kayts in September 2009 with the
commencement of the Government resettlement program.
Financial assistance was provided by M/S Tropic Frozen Foods (Pvt)
Ltd and free labour was provided by the Naval personnel attached to SLNS
Kanchadewa. Thanalakshmi expressed her gratitude to the Navy and M/S
Tropic Frozen Foods (Pvt) Ltd.
SLNS Kanchadewa has been building low-cost houses for resettled
families in the North. |
