Creation and freedom of development, victory for all
Creation and freedom of development instead of destruction and terror
of a war is a victory for all, Nations Languages and Social Integration
Minister and Democratic Left Front Chief Secretary Vasudeva Nanayakkara
said.
The task of unifying all communities in the country became
unsuccessful from the beginning and finally turned out to be a highly
destructive civil war. The country is facing the challenge of
accomplishment of this role again after the end of the war.

Vasudeva Nanayakkara addressing the fourth General conference of the
Democratic Left Front held at the youth centre, Maharagama on December
19 said all ethnic groups should have to be appointed as intermediaries
in the task of public administration and organization of state affairs
to avoid any group being deemed as second class citizens. The Minister
said it is the sole determination of the Government as well as their
party to create the environment to enjoy freedom as the wish of the
people who were affected by the pressure of the LTTE. An intensive
program for limiting military control and for creating civil
administration systems has come into operation.
The country can take into account major issues on development, social
equity and democracy having concluded the issue on relationships among
communities. Leftists in the country involved in struggles for more than
75 years even before the independence to develop Sri Lanka into an
oasis, irrespective of race, religion and political parties to inherit
the right for the motherland for all ethnic groups in Sri Lanka. It has
been unified after about 500 years. Hundreds of Leftist leaders were
imprisoned and sacrificed their lives.
There is no discrimination as the majority and the minority in the
country. Sri Lanka is the motherland of every community. The content of
the speech delivered by President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the second
induction provided a new lease of life for every community.
If it was proclaimed on the date of independence in 1948, lives more
than hundred thousands would have not been lost.
The people can perform collectively on the accomplishment of
objectives rather than negative attitudes of functioning separately.
The Minister said the people can contribute effectively towards the
matters relating to the democracy and sovereignty only after concluding
the issue of relationships among communities.
The economy of exporting raw-materials designed to fill the coffers
of imperialists by breaking up the self-sufficient economy of the
country should be eradicated. Action should be taken to discontinue the
exportation of any raw-material that can be detrimental to the interest
of the country.
The Democratic Left Front requests all progressive parties, national
organizations, all communities and all faiths to make iron bonds of
brotherhood as Sri Lankans to accomplish this responsibility. Scientific
Affairs Minister Prof Tissa Vitarana, Lanka Samasamaja Party (LSSP)
Secretary Western Province Governor Alavi Mowlana, Human Resources
Minister DEW Gunasekara on behalf of the Communist party and
representatives of left parties also addressed the conference.
The speciality in this conference was the participation of Prof Babu
Mathiv representing the Indian Social and People's Movement Alliance and
the participation of many representatives on behalf of the Movement for
the Development focusing the Nature and Human Life of South Asia. |
