Teachers taught on waste management



Lawer Nirosh Bandara addressed the gathering

Saviya Development Foundation has implemented a program to strengthen the civil society. The object of this program is to educate the rural community on democracy, good governance, human rights, basic rights and elections procedure in Sri Lanka.

The survey done in Galle, Matara and Hambantota districts revealed the difficulty, people face in gathering information on these subjects.

The Saviya Development Foundation has made arrangements to open information centres to meet the requirement of the community. With the consultation of the Southern Provincial Council and under the administration of Pradeshiya Sabha, 47 centres were established in the public libraries.

Awareness programs and distribution of books to libraries and community development officers of Hambantota district took place at the Chief Minister's Auditorium, Competent Lawer and lecturer Nirosh Bandara addressed the gathering.

Books and leaflets were distributed to 12 libraries in Hambantota district at the event.
