Tsunami victims to be remembered

The Tharunyata Hetak Organization will commemorate and invoke merit
on tsunami victims on December 26 near the Peraliya tsunami memorial
statue.
Hundreds of train travellers died at Peraliya in the tsunami waves.
On the advice of Tharunyata Hetak Chairman, Namal Rajapaksa MP, the
Tharunyata Hetak Organization has planned to conduct various events
commemorating the tsunami victims.
Under these initiatives, a Lotus flowers tribute will be held near
the tsunami memorial at 9.40 am on December 26.
In addition a train will run from Maradana to Peraliya carrying amid
Pirith chanting.
When the train reaches Peraliya the floral tributes will be paid with
the participation of commuters and residents.
The train will be fixed with the same engine which powered the train
on that fateful day in December 2004. |
