Cigarettes valued at Rs 2 m in custody

The Central Province Fraud Detection Bureau, took into custody a
consignment of cigarettes worth about Rs 2 million smuggled from Turkey
when the consignment was being transported to Nuwara Eliya from Akurana
yesterday.
Bureau officers also arrested two persons transporting the cigarette
consignment comprising 86,200 cigarettes packed in 431 cartons.
OIC Central Province Fraud Bureau IP Jayasiri Amarasinghe said the
cigarettes were being transported in the guise of transporting perfume
to be sold during the festive season. |
