Computer Society AGM
The 22nd Annual General Meeting of the Computer Society of Sri Lanka
was held on December 10 at Colombo's Galadari Hotel. The new Council for
2011 was elected at this meeting.

The President for 2011 Chrisantha Silva said that 2011 will be
another year of many successful events for the Computer Society of Sri
Lanka with wide range of projects planned for the year. Some of these
projects such as the annual National IT Conference and the National
Schools Software Competition are of national interest.
The Computer Society plays a vital role in promoting professionalism
among the IT professionals in Sri Lanka. It conducts various programs
and events for the benefit of professionals to develop their skills that
are much needed in the industry and to get technical knowledge in their
profession.
Among the projects are Special Interest Groups, Professional
Development programs, Research Opportunities, ICT for Rural Areas, ICT
Community Service, IT Mastermind Quiz program and Job and Consultancy
Portal.
These projects will benefit both CSSL members and the ICT community
of Sri Lanka.
When ICT is playing a major role in all development activities of
this country, minimizing the digital divide is becoming critical.
The following officials were elected for the Council for the year
2011. President Chrisantha Silva, Vice President Mahesh Perera,
Secretary T. Asitha Peiris, Asst. Secretary Ajith Salgado, Treasurer M M
Lakshman Perera,Asst.
Treasurer D Thushara F Suraweera, Student Counsellor Dissanayake
Bandara, Publication Secretary Chandra Bernard Pathberiya. Council
Members are Dr Prasanna Lokuge, Dr K L Jayaratne, Dr Dayan Rajapakse and
Damitha Jayawardana.
The Computer Society of Sri Lanka was inaugurated in 1976. Since then
it has been playing a major role in promoting Information Technology and
professionalism among those engaged in the ICT field in the country for
the past 34 years. |
