Equal opportunities needed for differently abled

The Sri Lankan Government expects rapid development after three decades. It is important to give equal opportunities for the differently abled people, said Swedish Disability Movement representative Erik Staaf. He was addressing a workshop on let us win challenges through equal opportunities in education and vocational training at the Galle Face Hotel yesterday.

The Disability Organizations Joint Front Planned a three year program from 2011 to 2013 with the objective of providing equal opportunities for education to children with disabilities, providing vocational training for persons with disabilities and uplifting the position of women, Disability Organization Joint Front Chairman W M D Rathnasekera said. He said, it is expected to improve the educational standard of the children with disabilities through programs implemented in special schools, special units and selected ordinary school.
