SLCERT guarantees cyber security

The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team (SLCERT) of
Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) has come forward
to guarantee Cyber security. Computer users who have been victimized by
unlawful misconduct when using Internet can inform SLCERT.
SLCERT has been established aiming to provide people with services in
responsive, awareness and consultancy. Besides SLCERT is the centre for
Cyber security in Sri Lanka, mandated to protect local information,
infrastructure and to coordinate protective measures against Cyber
security threats and vulnerabilities. Therefore, SLCERT advices the
people about the latest threats and vulnerabilities affecting computer
systems and networks. Moreover, an expertise team of SLCERT will assist
the nation in responding to recover from Cyber attacks, a SLCERT
official said.
Cyber attacks come in many forms such as website defacement and
unauthorized access to systems. These are committed by a wide spectrum
of individuals and organizations such as fraudsters, terrorist groups
and even thrill seekers. As most of the Internet users are experienced,
hackers may log on private email accounts, Facebook accounts.
People can seek the services of SLCERT by logging on
www.slcert.gov.lk, the official said.
