Killing man, kidnapping girls:

Two arrested while main suspect escapes

Kadawatha police yesterday arrested two suspects when they were allegedly kidnapping two girls in a three-wheeler in Ragama.

The three-wheel driver had tipped off the police after noticing the girls were being kidnapped after killing their father at home.

According to police the deceased had two wives and one wife's sister's son had allegedly committed the murder owing to the displeasure of the father's denial of a love affair between the suspect and his young daughter.

The suspect had threatened him to give consent to the love affair. But both father and daughter had refused the suspects proposal. The suspect in revenge had killed the father with the support of two others and kidnapped the two girls. The three-wheel driver after confirming that suspects were engaged in an illegal mission had informed the police.

Police rushed to the scene and arrested the two accomplices while main suspect escaped. Ragama police are investigating.
