Move to uplift coir industry

The National Entrepreneur Development Authority and the North-Western Province Commerce Board will launch an islandwide program to uplift coir industry.

A workshop will be held at Kurunegala Blue Sky Hotel today at 9 am under the patronage of Industry and Commerce Deputy Minister Jayaratne Herath, said a press release.

The workshop is aimed at formulating a plan to address the issues relating to coir industry and to make coir mill owners and those connected to it aware of the services provided by state institutes regarding the coir industry.

Coconut Development Authority Export Development Board, Industrial Development Board, Coconut Cultivation Board, Coconut Research Institute, Sri Lanka Standard Bureau, Industrial Services Bureau, North Western Province coir mill owners and coir exporters will participate in the workshop.
